The Thrust of this Year International Day of Cooperatives

Building resilience in the face of daunting challenges from the covid-19 pandemic is the thrust of this year International day of Cooperatives.

The Executive Secretary of the National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Atama held a live session on facebook alongside with leaders of the Cooperative Movement,  on the focus of this year International day of Cooperatives.

The strategy is to covid-proof our products and activities so as to remain safe and strong.

 

Enhancing Greater Access to Housing Finance (construction and mortgage finance) using the Cooperative Model.

The MD/Chief Executive of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Executive Director Loans and Special Assistant to the MD on Wednesday 29th January 2019 held a crucial meeting with the Executive Secretary /CEO National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria in the company of CEO Millard Fuller Foundation and Director Emergent CWG PLC with respect to enhancing greater access to housing finance (construction and mortgage finance) using the cooperative model.

The MD FMBN was informed of the latest effort by the cooperative in the FCT to build cooperative villages in collaboration with Millard Fuller Foundation to make housing accessible and affordable while the Unified Cooperative Platform (UCP) provides the necessary technology for information management for all cooperative operations. Worthy of mention is the adoption of housing products as items for financial inclusion.
The FMBN MD promised to expand his support to the cooperative movement in housing delivery as it is a model the Bank is currently using to reach out to the masses. He equally called for collaboration between the FMBN State offices and the cooperatives for access in the immediate, retinue of FMBN funded estates across the country. “Cooperative, ensure no one is left behind ”

The National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria working with the Abuja Cooperative Federation is coordinating Cooperative Reforms to engender growth and development of Cooperative Movement at all levels and to make Cooperatives work for her members.

The Reforms will cover the law, policy, regulation, practice, governance financial inclusion, and ease of doing business.
